Our twist on the classic English Breakfast, one of the world’s most beloved black tea blends, combines two black teas for a balanced cup that delivers strength and complexity.

Tasting Notes: English Breakfast blends are known for being strong, full-bodied, and well-rounded. This rendition accomplishes that by marrying two of our single-origin organic blacks. The punch of our Organic Assam Black, the base for the original English Breakfast blends, is complemented by a burst of sweet, tart fruit from our Organic Kumaon Black, although in this case we use the BOP (our blending grade). As many like to drink milk in English Breakfast Tea, this blend is formulated to be able to pair with a milk of your choice. Explore the full line of collaborative blends developed in partnership with the Jasmine Pearl Tea Company.

Recipe Formulation: By taking two single-origin teas from different regions of India, the cup gets a unique combination of depth and lift. Although both are made with the same leaf, they use two different varieties of the tea plant; the low-elevation, broad leaves of the Assamaica varietal used in the Organic Assam Black lends strength and depth, while the Sinensis varietal of the Organic Kumaon Black gives complexity and a fruity sweetness. The precise ratio required careful experimentation to fine tune.

Impact: The goal for our line of blends is to find new ways to showcase the teas made by our Indian and Nepali partners. With this blend, the primary objective was to use a new grade of Organic Kumaon Black. When black tea is made, a number of different grades are all created simultaneously. When you purchase Organic Kumaon Black in our online shop, you’re getting the highest quality grade, SFTGFOP-1. This tea features a blend grade, BOP, of the same Organic Kumaon Black that’s ideal for adding kick when paired with another black tea. By incorporating the various tea grades in our collection, we ensure our farmer partners can generate a living wage from their labor. To ensure we had blends that would really along the tea leaf to sing, we chose to partner with our good friends and master blenders at the Jasmine Pearl Tea Company in Portland, Oregon. Delicious

I drink a ton of tea and always willing to try a new one. I actually found this in a Seattle tea shop. My first cup I had with just a tiny bit of sugar was so smooth. No bitterness or after taste! Absolutely smitten.

I love the Indian Breakfast Tea

I was honestly really surprised how much I enjoy the new flavor, Indian Breakfast Tea. I mean, one reason I buy from Young Mountain Teas is because of the totally delicious single origin teas containing only one type of leaf. I mean, I haven't bought Lipton or Tetley black teas for quite a long time now, and never missed them due to all the wonderful teas I have. Well, I do adore the Indian Breakfast Tea, its good, strong, delicious flavor.
