Making premium iced tea at home is a great way to add a refreshing and delicious burst to the summer. While iced tea in the US is traditionally made with black teas, we’ve found that green teas and white teas also taste phenomenal chilled. This bundle gives you the ability to play around with one of each style, using our hand-selected favorites for iced tea.
We start with the Nilgiri Black Orchid from the high-altitude Nilgiri mountains of south India. Nilgiri black teas are famous for making the best iced teas, as they are low in tannins and don’t get cloudy as they cool. Nilgiri Black Orchid is one of the best blacks from the region, with notes of dried plum and crisp Asian pear.
Our Organic Nepali Green Pearl is a wonderfully balanced green tea that plays between sweet, vegetal, and floral. Sitting at the intersection of all three is an iced green tea experience that we can’t get enough of in the hot heat. This tea is made by Tinjure, Nepal’s first tea cooperative.
Finally, an uncommon yet unforgettable tea to round off this iced tea bundle is our Organic Kumaon White. Sourced from a village perched high in the Himalayas, this spring-made white has delicate notes of cucumber and melon that shine when poured over ice. Incredibly thirst-quenching and refreshing, this is a light, balanced tea that’s great with a garnish of fresh mint or basil.
How To Make Iced Tea
Start by making a tea concentrate, using twice as much tea leaf as you would use to make a hot tea. Refrigerate to let the liquid cool, and then just before serving, pour the concentrated tea over ice. As the ice melts, the tea will reach a well-balanced equilibrium. For a fun twist, add a slice of lemon and a touch of your favorite sweetener just before drinking.
