ITINERARY
Please note that while traveling in India, we're almost guaranteed to experience unforeseen events that will change our itinerary. Flexibility and patience are your best friends!

-
Day 1: Arrival into Delhi – Phew, you made it. Check into the hotel and sleep well.
-
Day 2: Good morning Delhi! Step onto the bustling streets alive with street vendors, tuk tuks, cows, spices and saris galore. There will be an optional yoga/meditation at an ashram, for those who would like to participate.
-
Day 3: Time to visit one of the 7 wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal! We will spend the day exploring this beautiful site.
-
Day 4: Head to the train station to catch a train up into the mountains. We will be there during peak visibility season so the mountain views will be stunning. Upon arrival we will meet our homestay family and get settled in.
-
Day 5: Wake up in the foothills of the Himalayas and spend the day in the Tea Nursery and Fields plucking tea with the workers.
-
Day 6: Tour of a factory where we will participate in a hands-on tea-making workshop.
-
Day 7: Put on your walking shoes! We will be going for a ridgeline walk and on a tour of a self-sufficient sustainable homestead.
-
Day 8: Drive to Avani where we will be staying for the next couple of days. We will tour a local Himalayan non-profit and get to meet the founders, who will tell us about their experience creating rural agricultural livelihoods.
-
Day 9: Spend the day in Avani. We will have the option to choose between a natural dye making workshop or a renewable energy workshop.
-
Day 10: Drive to the beautiful home of Avani’s founders in Almora.
-
Day 11: Goodbye mountains, return back to Delhi.
-
Day 12: Last day to soak it all in. Eat, drink and see all that you can. Last minute shopping and spice buying. Jet-set back home that night.
Testimonials
Barb
"This trip allowed me to get to know India on a different level. We became intimately connected with the local people by staying with families in their homes, dancing to traditional music, and by putting our hands together again and again saying 'Namaste.' It was an amazing trip."
Sean
"I originally planned to take a trip with Young Mountain to see where our tea was coming from. I own a local day spa in Eugene, and we try to ensure we are partnering with ethical companies that match up with our own values as much as possible. Little did I know, I would end up getting so much more from my trip. I feel like I have opened a door to experiences and relationships that will affect me for the rest of my life. India has her hook in my heart, and I absolutely can't wait to go back."
